Emma
Reformer Pilates Instructor
-
Emma has been immersed in the health and fitness industry for as long as she can remember with a family who were among the first private health club pioneers in the UK. Her uncle formulated Bristol Athletics Club and has only just retired from elite coaching at 85 years of age!
After a childhood filled with competitive sports Emma’s natural progression was to follow the family footsteps. Emma worked for the Central YMCA Charity (a leading UK health, education and wellbeing charity) for 15 years co ordinating projects for older adults and mental health populations before co ordinating the STOTT Pilates Certified Training Centre when MERRITHEW Health and Fitness entered the UK market. It was during this period that Emma qualified as a STOTT Pilates teacher with additional training in special populations, fascia and breathwork. She is also a fully certified yoga teacher.
In 2015, Emma and a colleague set up a dedicated mind-body centre YMCA One KX in the heart of Kings Cross offering yoga and Pilates teacher trainings and public timetables.
Alongside her work at the YMCA Emma ran a successful 121 Pilates client base, taught at many of the capitals bespoke Pilates and Yoga centres of its time. Having relocated to St Leonard’s On Sea when her son was born, she worked at Seabreeze Pilates before moving on to teach private community-based classes.
Emma’s teaching style is well informed from years of engaging with mind-body disciplines. Emma enjoys simplicity but depth of awareness in movement.
Liz
Reformer Pilates Instructor
-
Liz discovered Pilates over 20 years ago, while training to be a pianist and flautist at a conservatoire of music. Inspired by the fundamental changes that were taking place within her body and breath control after just one class per week, she decided to train to teach Pilates alongside her freelance musical career.
Liz qualified as a Mat work teacher in 2010, and as a Reformer teacher in 2013, both with Body Control Pilates in London. She has since trained to teach on the Cadillac, Chair & Ladder Barrel, and has undertaken further professional development courses, including Pregnancy Pilates and Bone Health. Liz was a Supervising Teacher for Body Control Pilates between 2014 and 2018, mentoring and observing students as they progressed towards their Mat work qualification.
Liz loves to discover different approaches within the Pilates community and strongly believes that we can all learn from each other. She also has a keen interest in Yoga, Myofascial Slings and Alexander Technique.
